Festivals in May 2030 in the Hindu Calendar

How does the Hindu Calendar work?

The Hindu Calendar follows the North Indian purnimanta system, in which each lunar month ends on Purnima; the Vikram Samvat year begins on Chaitra Shukla Pratipada. Each month runs from the day after Purnima, through the Krishna (dark) paksha and Amavasya, to the Shukla (bright) paksha ending on Purnima. Gujarat, Maharashtra and South India use the amanta system, in which the month ends on Amavasya, so their month name differs from this one for the Krishna paksha fortnight while the tithi and the festival dates stay the same. An Adhika masa is added about every three years. Festivals still follow the lunar tithi, so their dates move each year.
